Designing a dark & cinematic home for film lovers
Kernel is a film discovery app I designed and built: browse what is trending, filter down to your taste, and save the ones you mean to get to. The design leans into the cinema itself, warm amber light against the dark, so browsing feels more like a night out than a database.

Find it by mood
Sometimes you know exactly what you want. More often you only know the mood. Discover lets you sort by rating or year and filter through eighteen genres, so a vague Friday-night urge becomes a shortlist in a few taps.
Save it for later
Not every film is for tonight. A tap on the heart keeps it in Favourites, so the list of things you mean to watch is always there, posters and all, instead of scribbled on the back of your hand.
The brief was simple: make browsing feel like a treat, not a task.
Make it yours
An account ties it together. Signing up takes a moment, and from there your favourites and lists follow you around, the way a good streaming app remembers what you were watching.
On every screen
It is built mobile-first as a React app with Tailwind, fast to load and snappy to move through. The dark interface feels right on a phone in a dim room, and the posters stay sharp and tappable whether you are on the sofa or at a desk.
